Facebook AI Computer Vision Talk

This talk will introduce what the Computer Vision research team is focused on within Facebook’s Applied Machine Learning (AML) organization. Our group has close to 60 researchers and engineers in Menlo Park, NYC, and Boston. Our mission is to conduct cutting-edge research to solve computer vision problems that are important to Facebook’s mission and products. Our research spans across video analysis, OCR, person identification, adversarial learning, transfer learning, and extreme vision. We publish in top computer vision conferences as we make progress on these problems. At the same time, we have a productization-focused team that works on best engineering practices and infrastructure in order to take our technologies to the product.

Speaker Information

Manohar Paluri, Director of Facebook AI

Bio: Since I joined Facebook in 2012 I have worked on building Facebook’s Image and Video understanding platform. My interests lie in using large amounts of annotated and weakly annotated image and video data to build a visual representation of everything in the world. Prior to joining Facebook I was pursuing my Ph.D. from Georgia Tech and worked at Google, IBM Watson labs and Sarnoff Corporation (now SRI). Currently, I manage the computer vision group and my group focuses on building Facebook’s image and video understanding platform.
